Answer to the Employee release Questions:

  1. What if I want to retain ownership for materials previously created?
We appreciate your hard work and effort for something you currently own and do not want to risk loss of ownership for you or or legal conflict down the road.  We ask that you don't place such work in your lesson or unit plans for display on the internet.
  2. What if I do new work later on for another project, subject, etc.? Is that still covered under the Employee Release that your signing for this project?
No.  However if the project or work you are doing is on District 11 time and you are being compensated for that time, the work does belong to District 11.
  3. Please be aware that we can not accept any work from you unless we have an employee release on file for you. (Click here for another copy of the employee release agreement)

Computer Lab Availability: To find out is there is a computer lab available at the IT building next to central administration. click here

Where can I check out a laptop? We recommend that you check with your school.  Charlee Archuleta already managed to do this with her school.  Heather Mills said she checked one out from LRS...from Jeannette Dandurand. It couldn't have been easier, and she gets to keep it until school starts up again in August.  If you are unable to and still need a laptop or use of a school computer you can make arrangements with HESP at Audubon Elementary by e-mailing Nawana Britenriker BRITENJ@d11.org.

What is Understanding by Design?  A model of a learning experience that incorporates the curriculum design and assessment concepts found in Understanding by Design, authored by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe. It explains what it means for a learner to truly understand, so the curriculum and assessments teachers design can effectively focus on enhancing each student's understanding. The training is a 16 hour bcclended model of professional development. All content and resources are available online, but only 12 of the 16 hours involve face-to-face team meetings. You can review the module yourself by clicking Understanding by Design Training

Curriculum Alignment Under Revision

Over the past few years, District 11 teachers and instructional leaders developed Curriculum Alignment Guides (sample), and Pacing Guides (
sample). This work provided a strong foundation for consistent curriculum delivery across the district. However, teacher feedback on the format of those documents revealed that although the documents are comprehensive, they lacked the simplicity needed for effective everyday lesson planning. Read more about the reasons for Combining the Curriculum Alignment Guides and Pacing Guides.
